It's National Apprenticeship Week and Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, spoke out to champion the incredible work of apprentices across the Two Cities and country.

Apprenticeships are paid jobs that allow people to gain skills and valuable experiences. Alongside on-the-job training, apprentices spend time completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider which leads to a nationally recognised qualification. Commenting on National Apprenticeship Week, Nickie explained,

"It's National Apprenticeship Week this week. And since 2010, 5.7 million people have begun apprenticeships.

"I'm a huge supporter of apprenticeships. They are a great way, whatever your age, but particularly for young people to start their career rather than going off to university. You can learn on the job. There are amazing apprenticeship degrees now and we've got examples of that in the Two Cities.

"So do have a look on the apprenticeships website, and do consider an apprenticeship. It is the most amazing start to a career."
