Royal Society of Portrait Painters

The Royal Society of Portrait Painters is a charity based at Carlton House Terrace that promotes the practice and appreciation of portraiture.

Nickie Aiken, Two Cities MP, was delighted to meet Anthony Connolly, President of the Society, and Clare O'Brien, CEO of the Federation of British Artists, to hear more about the phenomenal work of Portrait Painters.

On her visit, Nickie was given a tour of the exhibition on Japanese artists. The art was truly incredible.

It was also an excellent opportunity to learn more about how the Society adapted throughout the pandemic when exhibitions were on hold and I am pleased that, thanks to Government support, notably through the furlough scheme, the Society continues to grow and welcome new artists at their exhibitions.

Over the coming weeks and months, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters will hold many more events and exhibitions, including one called “The Discerning Eye”, showcasing small works selected by six judges via an open call.
