Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster had a fantastic visit to Pimlico Academy where she met the Headteacher, Mr Oulton, and a class of Year Tens studying citizenship.

Nickie believes it is incredibly important that to listen to our young people and ensure that they are confident in their futures. Every child matters and every child deserves the best start in life.

The students told her about the issues they believed to be the most pressing in London. Matters such as knife crime, policing, racism and homelessness were the key themes amongst other subjects.

Nickie was delighted to have had such insightful discussions with the students. She will take their ideas to the heart of Government and looks forward to returning to hear more about the issues that matter to them.

On a final note, as Mr Oulton moves on to a new role, Nickie wishes him all the very best when he steps down later this year.

Nickie commented,

"I've just had a wonderful visit at Pimlico Academy, where I met a class of Year Ten pupils who are taking part in a citizenship project, looking at issues such as knife crime, policing, racism and homelessness, amongst other issues. And I also spoke to groups of Year Sevens about those subjects. It is a fascinating insight and how important it is to listen to our young people and ensure that they are confident in their futures and that every child matters and that every child has the best start in life and education like they get at Pimlico Academy."
