Salon visit

Many beauty therapists, aesthetic and cosmetic medicine practitioners have been in touch with local MP Nickie Aiken in recent weeks, keen to reopen their businesses as soon as possible.

Nickie visited a couple of these businesses based in Marylebone to discuss how they are looking to recover from Covid-19.

Meeting the two Marylebone clinics, Nickie heard first-hand how they desperately want to reopen. Both had been due to reopen on 1st August but their plans to do so were put on hold after the Government postponed the date that close contact beauty services could reopen by at least two weeks.

Following the announcement, Nickie received a number of calls and emails making her aware of the frustration and disappointment that businesses such as Borciani London and the Emporium Treatment Clinic, the clinics she visited, feel about not being able to reopen.

On the precautions that both clinics are taking Nickie said, “While visiting both clinics, I saw the extensive work they have undertaken to make it as safe as possible for clients.

“There are new appointment systems and all forms are now filled in online. Each therapy room is also thoroughly cleaned after an appointment and therapists wear full PPE. I felt incredibly safe while visiting.”

Nickie has been supportive of calls to reopen these commercial premises. Many salons are often single practitioners. As a champion of small businesses, Nickie strongly believes we must do all we can to support them to reopen and begin trading again.

She is backing her Conservative colleague, Caroline Nokes MP, who is leading the campaign to allow the sector to reopen. Nickie has raised the importance of the beauty and the aesthetic and cosmetic medicine industries are to the UK economy with Ministers and will continue to champion their cause.
