Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, has today welcomed new tier-based restrictions across England which will come into effect on December 2nd.

Speaking shortly after the Prime Minister unveiled new restrictions to the House Nickie said,

“I've just been listening to the Prime Minister make his speech in the House of Commons on the Winter COVID-19 Plan, I’m delighted that he has confirmed the second lockdown will be lifted as promised on the 2nd December.

“It will be replaced with a new tier-system with some fairly strict restrictions. We're waiting to hear which tier London will be in, probably on Thursday, but there are some great news in that the 10 p.m. curfew is being lifted and replaced with a 10 p.m. last orders, and then an extra hour for customers to finish off their orders. This should help prevent bottlenecks outside tube stations, aiding social distancing.

“Shops will be reopening as well gyms and leisure centres, grassroots sport will be able to recommence, all good news. A vaccine is on its way with a massive vaccine program likely to begin next month and more testing. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

“There's still more to do, but working together, we can get through this.”
