Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, spoke out in the House of Commons Chamber to welcome the Chancellor's Spring Budget.

It’s a Budget with vision and pragmatism which will help families and businesses across the Two Cities.

Whether on childcare costs which will now see 30 free hours of childcare per week for children from nine months, giving working women the opportunity to choose what is best for them and their families.

Or continued support with energy bills, and Nickie pressed for extended support to help the many households across the Two Cities who rely on communal heat networks.

Nickie has also seen first-hand at the Fair Shot Café in Covent Garden the difference the right support can make to those with learning disabilities to the individual and their families. So she welcomes the reforms to help disabled and long-term sick people in work without the worry of losing out.

Measures were included in the Budget to encourage the over 50s to stay in, or return to work, support for children in care as they enter working age, as well as help for job seekers to get into decent jobs and with good wages.

And the Budget has plans to cut taxes for local businesses, cut bureaucracy, and simplify the tax system they face.

Commenting on the Budget Nickie said,

"The Chancellor’s Budget for Growth will support hard-working people and businesses across the Two Cities and around the country. Whether continued support on energy bills, support with childcare costs, tax cuts for businesses, or reforms to help people into work, it's a Budget with vision and pragmatism and will go a long way to grow our economy."
