Two Cities MP, Nickie Aiken, and Greg Hands, Member of Parliament for Chelsea & Fulham, continued their campaign to save the 11 and 211 buses, handing in their 5,000-strong petition to Transport for London.

Handing in their petition, Greg Hands MP said,

"I'm Greg Hands, MP for Chelsea and Fulham, here with Nickie Aiken, MP for the Two Cities of Westminster and the City of London. We're here at Transport for London headquarters to hand in our blockbuster petition. More than 5,000 people in our two constituencies alone have signed this petition to give a reprieve to the 11 and the 211 bus routes.

"The 11 bus route, for example, starts in Fulham, goes right through the major sites of London into the City via Westminster connecting King’s Road, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Parliament, Trafalgar Square. A major route for tourists. And Nickie, the 211 is also as important."

Nickie Aiken MP commented,

"The 211, I call the hospital bus. It goes through five hospitals, starting in St Thomas' and then going to The Royal Marsden, The Royal Brompton, Chelsea and Westminster, and then ending up in Charing Cross Hospital.

"I have had so many constituents very worried that they are now not going to be able to access these hospitals via the bus which they so rely on. So thank you to all of you who signed our petitions. 5,000 this time, 10,000 in the original petition. It sends a very clear message to the Mayor. Every journey does matter."

Greg added,

"Save the number 11 and the 211 buses. These buses are incredibly important for passengers, incredibly important for London as a whole. And today is the day for Sadiq Khan to sit up and take notice."
