Nickie sat down with Michael Gove MP and Rachel Maclean MP

Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Two Cities, knows that many local people continue to be concerned about the leasehold system and the uncontrolled costs you must pay to live in your flats.

Nickie sat down with Secretary of State Michael Gove MP and Housing Minister Rachel Maclean MP to raise your concerns and pushed for a Bill to come forward on this before any general election.

During their discussion, Nickie was pleased to receive assurances that the Government remain committed to implementing the extensively consulted upon and long-awaited leasehold reforms based on the Law Commission work from 2020. They also reflected on the progress of the Renters Reform Bill, which has its Second Reading in the coming weeks. In seeking to abolish Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions and reform landlord possession grounds, it is aiming to level the playing field so that our rented sector is fair for landlords and tenants. Nickie will continue to engage Ministers to ensure this Bill is done right.
