Two Cities MP holds her second meeting to hold Dolphin Square management to account

Two Cities MP, Nickie Aiken, held her second meeting for local people living at Dolphin Square.

It was a well-attended meeting where they discussed the issues that matter including the ongoing lift replacement programme, the major building refurbishment and rent hikes.

Nickie was pleased that since her first meeting in March, people living there have noticed improvements in the issues she has raised. However, Nickie knows there’s more to do, especially with the replacement lift programme and rent hikes and she will continue to work to hold their managing agent and landlord to account.

Speaking after the meeting, Nickie said,

"I've just finished another meeting with Dolphin Square residents who wrote to me earlier in the year, and we held a first meeting in March to discuss issues like maintenance and repairs, the massive refurbishment programme that they are undertaking at Dolphin Square. Also issues around communications with the managing agents and also major rent increases for some tenants.

"There has certainly been progress and I think everyone accepted there has been progress on these issues that I’ve raised with the managing agent and the landlord, AXA. But there is still more to do, particularly around lifts. All the lifts have to be replaced and they keep breaking down. They promised that that is now a priority. And also concerns still about rent increases. Some long-term tenants are being charged up to 30 or 40% increases in rent. That to me is unacceptable and I will be taking that up now with AXA.

"We need to help and support those people who invest their lives in a place like Dolphin Square. They don't deserve to have such rent hikes."
