Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, brought her Private Members' Bill, the Fertility Treatment (Employment Rights) Bill, back to Parliament.
One in six couples are affected by infertility and turn to IVF, but currently, employees must take time off to attend the early stages of IVF treatment. Nickie believes IVF treatment should be categorised as antenatal and thus patients be given the same work rights. So Nickie is campaigning to change the law to ensure individuals and couples are given the rights they deserve at what is already an incredibly stressful time.
At the same time, Nickie has launched the Fertility Workplace Pledge. The Pledge is a set of voluntary commitments for employers to sign up to and raise awareness of fertility treatment and support those going through it.
