Cities of London & Westminster MP, Nickie Aiken, is delighted that our pedicab licensing scheme took another step forward to become law.

Earlier today, the Pedicabs (London) Bill, passed its Second Reading in the Commons. The Bill will now move onto its Committee Stage before proceeding through its full Parliamentary journey.

From your stories, your experiences, and whilst out and about across our neighbourhoods, Nickie has seen how desperately we need our licensing scheme. Whether it's to end the blaring music which can go on until the very early hours of the morning, stop the pavements from being blocked by riders who park there, or prevent another story of a tourist or visitor being charged hundreds of pounds for a journey that lasts just a few minutes. Our licensing scheme will put an end to the horror stories. Find out more at https://www.nickie.news/Pedicabs

During the debate, the Bill received cross-party support, with many MPs from across the House speaking out in support.

Commenting after the debate, Nickie explained,

"We've just finished the Second Reading of the Pedicabs (London) Bill. It passed. I'm so delighted. It now goes on to the Committee of the Whole House where we will scrutinise it line by line. Then it will go to Third Reading and then hopefully fingers crossed, it will become law. It had cross-party support today, I want to thank Florence Eshalomi, the MP for Vauxhall, and Kit Malthouse, former Westminster councillor and Deputy Mayor for Policing, who is now an MP in Hampshire and Sarah Olney spoke for the Lib Dems as well as Paul Scully, MP for Sutton, who had tried to get pedicab regulation through a Private Member's Bill before I tried. Thank you for all the help. The Government has been extremely supportive, as have the Opposition. We are a step closer to the pedicabs Bill and pedicabs regulation becoming law."
