With Lee Rowley MP

We have all seen the impact of sky-high house prices in Westminster and the difficulties many face in getting on the property ladder.

Cities of London & Westminster MP, Nickie Aiken, met with Lee Rowley MP, Minister for Housing, to discuss the opportunities and challenges around constructing intermediary housing in Westminster.

Intermediary housing is a form of affordable home ownership and an important way for local people, especially young people, to own their own homes. As Leader of Westminster City Council, Nickie spearheaded this type of construction, with the development of over 2,000 homes on Ebury Bridge Road which has now come into fruition. Nickie is disappointed that Westminster Labour overturned this decision, with the Labour leadership instead deciding to turn these affordable homes into social housing, which does not lead to home ownership.

Nickie continues to make the case with Ministers for increased provision for affordable housing in Westminster and for improved guidance to be given to Councils.
