Muslims around the world have been targeted by Hajj-related fraud. Cities of London & Westminster MP Nickie Aiken raised this during an Adjournment Debate in Parliament.

Nickie explains,

"During a recent meeting with Commander Khan of the City of London Police I was concerned to learn of Hajj-related fraud.

"Hajj is a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim is expected to undertake in his or her lifetime if they are financially and physically able to do so.

"Unfortunately for some, their pilgrimage ends in heartbreak as they are targeted by fraudsters robbing them of thousands of pounds by posing as visa providers or travel agencies. Last week, I secured an Adjournment Debate in Parliament on tackling Hajj-related fraud to raise awareness of this awful crime.

"In the Chamber, I advised Hajjis to remain vigilant by reporting any incidences of suspected Hajj-related fraud directly to Action Fraud, the national fraud and cybercrime reporting service via their website.

"I also encouraged people to book their Hajj trips through the Nusuk Hajj Platform, which the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah established in 2022."
