Following a meeting with him recently in the House, with both Cities of London of London & Westminster MP Nickie Aiken and Kensington MP Felicity Buchan, Policing Minister Kit Malthouse written to them to address concerns about police helicopter noise. Nickie arranged the meeting after several local people had got in touch regarding the issue. You can read his letter in full to both Nickie and Felicity here.

In response to the letter Nickie said, “I welcome the Ministers response to both mine and Felicity’s concerns in particular his recognition of the problem and that drone technology could provide a potential solution long term.

“The Home Office’s £1 million investment in drone technology should help us get that point much quicker. I will continue to encourage the department to invest in drone technology.”

Nickie has also held meeting with senior Metropolitan Police officers, including Deputy Commissioner Sir Stephen House and the forces Commissioner Cressida Dick, to raise the issue with them directly.

On this meeting Nickie said, “Meeting with the Metropolitan Police have confirmed to me that they also recognise the problem. They are open to drones being used to police protests as soon technology allows. Regrettably this is likely to not be any time soon but several years in the future.”
