Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, Her Majesty The Queen outlined the Government's new legislative agenda.

The Queen’s Speech covered a wide range of measures that will see the new parliamentary agenda delivering on Conservative manifesto promises with 22 new Bills, including:

  • Supporting jobs, businesses and our economy
  • improving building safety
  • achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 for a cleaner, greener UK

In this video, Nickie Aiken MP outlines some of the benefits for people living or working in the Two Cities. Nickie explains

So the Queen’s Speech, which outlines Government’s legislation plans for the following year, had so much to offer.

The biggest ask for me was the Online Safety Bill which will hold people to account who want to abuse us on social media. There’s so much to embrace on the internet but we must ensure that we and our children are safe on it.

The Environment Bill will continue. I’m so proud that this Government is definitely pursuing its ambitions to be the greenest economy in the western world.

It’s so important as we come out of the COVID pandemic that we rebuild our economy, and build back better, and I think there’s so much in this Queen’s Speech that will do that, providing jobs and security for everyone in this country.
