MP for the Cities of London and Westminster, Nickie Aiken, reflected on another extraordinary in 2021, and highlighted how she has continued to work on behalf of people from across the Two Cities.

Nickie has campaigned with ArchAngel MLD Trust to improve the UK's newborn baby screening programme, and she was delighted that the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak MP, announced a pioneering trial for Generation Genome, which will screen our newborn babies for 200 rare diseases. A staggering increase from the 9 diseases we currently test for.

Nickie also worked with the Marylebone Society to improve air quality around Marylebone Station and would like to thank every single person who signed her very first Parliament Petition and made their voice heard to lobby the Government for Marylebone Station to become a diesel train-free zone.

Nickie spoke out with colleagues from across the House, including Maria Caulfield MP and Carolyn Harris MP to raise awareness and increase knowledge and support for women who are going through the life changing time of the menopause.

Nickie is determined to get her Pedicabs (London) Bill through Parliament and again wants to thank everyone for their support, and for backing her campaign.

Lastly, Nickie has continued to work with The Passage, Crisis and St Mungo's on the repeal of the Vagrancy Act which currently criminalises rather than helping them. Nickie is pleased to receive positive messaging from the Government, and welcomed the extra £640 million to help and increase rough sleeping services.

Thinking back over the last year, Nickie says,

"Thank you for all your support this year. Thank you for everything you are doing within your neighbourhoods to support each other and local businesses.

"I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a successful 2022."
