Congratulations to the Karman Space Programme team at Imperial College London!
After months of immense hard work, the team took the next steps to become the first student-led group to reach space using a reusable rocket.
Before Saturday's test, Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster, was invited by Shapol, the lead engineer, to see the rocket for herself and hear about their incredible project.
Nickie heard how the team designed and built their reusable rocket and, in a world first for a student-group, hope to achieve the remarkable feat of launching the rocket to pass the Karam Line - the boundary to space, 100km above sea level - and then successfully return it to Earth to be used again. The launch took place in Scotland on Saturday and they tested the rocket’s recovery, avionics system and reusability.
