The Government has introduced a new ban on zombie-style knives and machetes, helping to crack down on devastating street violence and keep our neighbourhoods safe.

Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, welcomes the move as these weapons, which are designed to look threatening but have no practical use, have no place on our streets. They will be made illegal and sentences for sale and possession will be strengthened. Police will also be given new powers to seize and destroy knives found on private premises.

Nickie also welcomes that the maximum penalty for the importation, manufacturing, possession and sale of these newly proscribed weapons will also be increased from six months to two years, as will the maximum penalty for sales to under-18s.

These steps will reduce the number of attacks and punish the criminals who use and sell these dangerous weapons, making our streets across the Two Cities safer for everyone.
