Public meeting

Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, held her second crime and anti-social behaviour public meeting in Victoria where she brought together the Metropolitan Police and Westminster City Council to hear from local people about their everyday experiences and concerns.

Residents remain frustrated by the situation. The council, who have a vast array of tools at their disposal to combat anti-social behaviour, explained it was working up plans and a wider strategy is to be implemented next year. Nickie hopes following the meeting the council will look at speeding up timescales as there continue to be major issues of crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.

One takeaway message from the police was that we need to report every crime and incident we experience or witness. It helps them to allocate their resources and builds up a realistic picture of what's happening locally. In a non-emergency, for the Metropolitan Police, you can tweet @MetCC on X (formerly Twitter), report online at met.police.uk, or dial 101. For the City of London Police, you can report online at cityoflondon.police.uk or dial 101. In an emergency, always dial 999.

Nickie sends her thanks to everyone who attended. Nickie is clear that more work is required and she will continue to work with the council, its leadership team, and the police to ensure out neighbourhoods are safer places to live, work, and visit.
