Nickie welcomed the Government's announcement to introduce new laws to reform leasehold tenure and make buying or extending lease agreements easier, faster, fairer, and cheaper. Keep updated on how leasehold reform is progressing here.

As a result of Government action, the Leasehold Reform (Ground Rent) Act 2022, which came into force on 30 June 2022, means leaseholders in new, qualifying long residential leasehold properties will be protected from excessive pricing. Nickie welcomed the Act, and supports measures to give leaseholders a greater say over their property.

In the future, the Government has committed to make it easier and cheaper for leaseholders to extend their lease or buy their freehold as well as make it simpler and quicker to take control of the management of their building.

As legislation makes its way to Parliament, Nickie will make the case to give leaseholders a greater say over their property.
